In 1770 the talented painter Marianne is commissioned to paint the portrait of Héloise, a young woman who has just left the convent to marry the promised husband. Héloise tries to resist his fate refusing to pose but Marianne, as suggested by her mother, secretly paints her pretending to be her chaperone. When the two women start seeing each other, an overwhelming and unexpected love burst them.
